Jastram transverse Thrusters

They are installed in the bow or stern of a ship to produce side thrust at low speeds of advance. They are of fixed pitch design, and the range of powers and installation arrangements are given in the table below. The drive can be electric, with three stepped speeds or stepless, 0-100%, by using a frequency converter, hydraulic or diesel drives are also available.
Thrusters are an active manoeuvring device as they produce thrust immediately they are operated.
