Jastram Hydraulic T-Rudder
The Jastram Hydraulic T-Rudder is the optimum high-efficiency steering system. It combines the advantages of both rotor and hydraulically linked flap allowing maximum manoeuvering at medium and low ship speeds. The effect of the Jastram Hydraulic T-Rudder is comparable to a stern thruster. When combined with a bowthruster transverse manoeuvres are easily achievable. At higher ship speeds the rotor and flap are disengaged and the ship's rudder operates normally. Steering gear with a high rudder angle is required for a Jastram Hydraulic T-Rudder. In fuel-saving mode the main rudder body is fixed and steering is effected only with the flap.
